My Top 5 Highlights in 2013

I can't believe it took me one year to blog again, and worse, with slightly same topic - NEW YEAR!!! hahaha. Well, the important thing is the inner writer in me has finally unleashed once again in its own little way. AGAIN, I'm not that poetic enough to write stuff that matters the most nor to impress someone.. you know the ( "Wow, you blog? that's cool! you're smart!" ) kind of thing. We're all writers, some of us just hide it better than others.

Since, it's that time of the year when almost everyone makes his/her own New Year countdown list. Whether it would be "Top 5 people in my 2013" or  "Top 10 places I've been to this 2013". And a lot more "New Year, New Me" b*llsh*t posts/tweets everywhere. Not to mention the ever consistent "Please be good to me <insert year>" bandwagon. NEW YEAR is everyone's possession, so do whatever you want, just don't screw things up.

So here is my own version for a New Year Countdown: "My Top 5 Highlights in 2013"

5. REGISTERED NURSE
        - Yep! February 2013 when the Professional Regulation Commission released the results of the NLE (Nurse Licensure Exam) December 2012... and praise God! My name was on the list! I AM OFFICIALLY an RN! As our review lecturers would tell us "May comma na ang mga pangalan ninyo!" It was not just a highlight for me but a very special reminder that indeed, when you really work hard for something, everything will just fall into place. The 4 years in college and the almost 5 months of review really paid off. Hashtag Sarap!

4. FIRST JOB
         - Since I am officially a Registered Nurse, what would you expect me to do after? Nope, I wasn't really tempted to look for a job that has a much higher salary compared to Nurses, say for example, call center agents. It was tempting, but I still followed my guts back then. I decided to engaged myself first on a real hospital setting just for me to realized if it was really my calling. I was an "orientee" at one of the hospitals here in CDO for almost 4 months because I decided not to finish the 6 months contract. Insane right? You probably wanna ask me why I did that, and I bet, you alongside with everybody still won't get my point. Let's just say that I was looking for something with spark, a passion, a job that would make you feel excited waking up everyday. I never said I hate it because I don't, in fact, it wasn't boring at all. I wasn't just happy. Probably living the saying "If you can't stand the heat, then leave". So here I am right now, still looking for that something. This has gotta be one of my 2013 highlights you know... new people, new environment, new experience! Bunch of memories I promise I'll be holding onto forever. :)

 3. MARIUS ANFERNEE
          - On the 20th of August 2013, my first nephew and hence the very first "apo" in the family was born. My sister gave birth to a baby boy and named him Marius Anfernee. I think we were all excited that time to meet him. He's just too cute for my life. I feel like I don't deserve to be his "tita"! As I write this blog, he's already 4 months old. I can't wait to play with this kiddo' when he grows up, and I am even much more excited to see him grow as a God-centered, smart, funny gentleman someday. Still holding on to my half meant joke that I want him to enter showbiz or if not, PBA! hashtag nephew love!

2. THAILAND
       - So it's not a secret to everyone that I REALLY REALLY want to travel the world even if it means just bringing along a backpack and courage, (got that from Miss World 2013 Megan Young). So this year, I had my very first out of the country escapade, and nope, it wasn't Hongkong but Thailand!!! First time to encounter and be that so much close for a picture taking with a tiger, first time to ride an elephant. Floating market, out of the country shopping, and explore the wonderful world of historical arts. And never will I allow that my Thailand experience would not be a part of my 2013 highlights. IT WAS ONE EPIC MOMENT.

*allow me to bombard you with a few pictures from my Thailand adventure*

1. BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF
              - I'm really not sure what to put on my no.1 spot, so I guess this is it. The feeling of being so blessed beyond everything. I've never felt so blessed in my life. I know that expressing gratitude every New Year is overrated, but I can't help saying Thank you over and over again. My 2013 wouldn't be that "funniest" if it weren't for the people around me. Family, friends, more friends, new friends and many to mention. And to the big boss up there, my best friend, my father, JESUS CHRIST, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING. For blessing me with so much even though I don't deserve it! AWESOME GOD! :) <3 hashtag Grateful!

Be kind. Smile often. Travel when possible.
Never stop learning. Treasure each moment.
Radiate love to those around you. Always be thankful.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 2014 is gonna be awesome! Claim it! ;)

Adios 2012, Hello TWENTY THAR-TEEN!!!

2012 may be one of the toughest year for some people I know, but I believe - It won't get any tougher when you've already experienced the toughest! Well... it was an interesting year! Lessons learned well, another unforgettable memories were made, and more beautiful strangers were added into our lives. It was one hell of a year for everyone; a roller-coaster ride which consist of ups and downs but the nice thing is we learned and had fun. And as the famous writer Paulo Coehlo tweeted: @paulocoelho:"Never regret anything that made you happy this year..." :)

"I Cry" - by Flo Rida

Aside from the fact that Flo Rida is just freakin' awesome! anyway, this video goes out to everyone who is now ready to let go of 2012 and is welcoming 2013 with arms wide open... And as the famous preacher Bo Sanchez says "Your past wasn't perfect, but it was perfect for your purpose" *twitter: @bosanchez / website: www.bosanchez.ph

Favorite part from the song:
When I need a healing
I just look up to the ceiling
I see the sun coming down
I know It's all better now

Adios 2012... Welcome 2013!!! :-)

What kind of Book do you read?

Before you'll think that I am a "bookworm", I'd like to defend myself first by saying "You are ABSOLUTELY wrong." I was never one. Although I read that much (OK, CHALK, Starstudio, YES and even CANDY...) *and obviously it was more of Hollywood and Showbiz scoops; shame on me -.-* I don't consider myself one. I've known some people who considers reading book as a lifetime pleasure. So this post is dedicated for them! :>

ROADTRIP by Pstr. Ru Dela Torre
this is one of my favorite books so far. It wasn't about a vampire who fell in love with a human, a wizard who studied in a school of magic or a young bachelor who gets every woman she wants. The book is really something I never imagined reading myself but it turned out that I finished it in merely a day and a half ( it's not that thick, don't be amazed by me). It is such a relaxing book to read, and the further you turn every pages of it, the more interesting your realizations about Life, Love, Friends, Studies, Career and GOD. So sit back and enjoy the ride, let's take a ROADTRIP! :) *Thanks to my friend who gave this as a gift during a barkada Christmas Party last December 2010. very much appreciated!* You can follow the author on twitter @Rudelatorre

Why Men Marry Bitches by Sherry Argov
This 2nd book is one of the most hilarious thing I've read in my life. As critics say, you are just like talking to your girlfriends when you read Sherry Argov's work. It was my lecturer in the review center who suggested all the girls in the classroom to read this one. I wasn't interested about it but when my review mate brought with her this newly-bought book, I tried to read the first pages and then borrowed it for a week to finish. You will understand how men think about women through this book, their own perspectives and judgments about ladies. And I guess there is a part 2 for this book entitled "Why Men Love Bitches". This is an appropriate gift for your friend and sister! Go now to your nearest bookstores BITCHES! ;>

Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo? by Ramon Bautista
I've decided to include this book for this blog post because it really intrigues me. I don't know but half of me says it is because of the book title. -_-' Anyhow, I still wasn't able to read this book yet  or should I say buy it in NATIONAL BOOKSTORE. *available only in NBS* I am not really sure if this is only for the boys because most of the people I know reading this book are guys (I caught 2-4 of my guy classmates in the review center reading this one so... there). So if you happen to read this book first, tell me what made this book SOLD OUT nationwide! You can follow the author on twitter @ramonbautitsa :)

*P.S. These are the type of books that gets me going. I am more interested of these kind of books rather than those of novels, love stories, fiction and stuffs. More realistic!

The Sky-Day Experience

This whole day experience was definitely one of the best things life can offer. The Crown Regency Hotel and Towers is a must-go tourist destination not just for friends but for families as well.

You too can experience the same thrill and adventure by just going to the Sky Lounge at 19th flr of the hotel and be oriented through their information staff on what promos or adventures you and your friends would like to avail.

Sky Walk Extreme - 300 php/person
Edge Coaster - 300 php/person
Tower Zip & Sky Lift - 600 php/person
and many more Sky Extreme Adventures just for you!!!

took a pic of the number 19 in the elevator for a formal documentation and proof! haha

We were able to experience this "Sky-Day Tour" package wherein at 888php/person, you can avail the following activities:

> Lunch Buffet @ Wang Shan Lo Restaurant (delicious Chinese Cuisine) 11am-2pm

Wang Shan Lo Chinese Restaurant :)

Dessert time! Drooling in the deep @_@

Sweets...
Salads and all...

>Free Use of the Swimming Pool at 9th flr (a total of 3 pools including the therapy pool)

Therapy pool w/ genie
this isn't a Jacuzzi... Just as we thought it was.

>4D-Theater Experience with your own choice of film to watch ( "ESCAPE" is such a great 4D Film)

>A choice between any Sky Day Adventure (Tower Zip, Edge Coaster, or Sky Walk Extreme)

Just a piece of advice: If u wanna avail the "Sky Day Tour" package, you can choose Tower Zip for that last option, so that if you wanna still experience other Sky Day Adventures, it would lessen the total expenses. :)

note:
Travel Buddy - Genie Beja ;) hahaha

SEE FOR YOURSELF! -_-

I think therefore I am. . .

I have always been a fan of Philo classes. Other students would say "boring subject", but I beg to disagree. It's actually up to you if you would let yourself be fed up by those unending Philosophical questions and logical reasoning, in addition to that is the fact that most of the Professors belong to the College of Law (which has the best minds when it comes to logic and philosophical matters.

Being enrolled in an ATENEO school, every student requires to have this subject whether you like it or not. I am currently on my senior year, the year which I expected to have more Major Subjects and no minor subjects at all (that's what I've heard from other universities by the way). But in my part, it turned out to be exactly the opposite.

Right now, I have my Philo of Religion subject. And to give you a glimpse or sneak peek of what this Philo "thingy" is all about. Let me share to you this one:

Question: If you met a blind Atheist saying "How can you prove to me that there really is God? There is no God!"

Answer: Let's use the Ontological Argument of St. Ansalm. "Suppose that God as the greatest conceivable being exist in the mind, but not in reality which makes him - an Imaginary Being. Existence in reality is greater than existence in the mind alone - like for example, Food exist in reality, while God as the greatest conceivable being exist in the mind alone, so that makes Food greater than God. We can conceive a greatest conceivable Being that exists in reality as well as in the mind - such as the Universe, so that makes the Universe greater than the Food. Therefore, there is a being, like the Universe that is greater than the greatest conceivable being which is God. But this is a contradiction, for there cannot be a being greater than the greatest conceivable being, because if that's the case, then God is no longer the greatest conceivable being, which the statement 1 is actually saying. Therefore it is false that the Greatest conceivable being which is God exist in the mind alone and not in reality. THUS, the Greatest Conceivable Being which is God must exist in reality as well."

VS

And that was just an example of what Philo Class would be. It's quite mind boggling, but definitely, it make sense. And one more thing, whenever I am in this class, I feel like I'm a Philosopher too. I hate arguments that don't make sense, but this one, it would make you think, read, think, read all over again.

*credits to my Professor in Philo of Religion which I won't mention anymore, see? I LEARNED!* ;) -Hazel
